Process Innovation
Process
Innovation refers not only to specific production processes
but also plant technology, organizational structure, business
practices, policies, procedures and performance standards.
At the beginning of each project, we analyze the capability
of our plant, equipment and personnel to meet the new challenge.
During the design review, we identify all customer requirements
and possible product requirements that are not defined by
the customer. For example, a customer may specify a critical
locking feature width dimension on the part print. We will
list that dimension as a critical characteristic on our control
plan. We may also list the minimum force required to break
that lock and use that force test as a control during every
production run. By incorporating performance tests into our
manufacturing processes, we more fully understand the improvements
that can be made to improve part quality. The improvements
can range from adding more water or oil flow through the mold
to automated robotics, vision systems and beyond.
